non-profit organization founded in 1975 by three county residents with a passion for musical theatre. The purpose of HCST is to produce reasonably priced, family-oriented and high quality musicals each summer in Howard County, Maryland. A portion of the profits from these shows are donated to various charities in central Maryland. |

The Story:
The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall. (Excerpt from MTI synposis) |

2018 Summer Recap
Howard County Summer Theatre staged a highly successful Annie last summer. We would like to thank everyone who worked on this show in any capacity, from the designers, to the tech crew, to the performers, to the orchestra, to the directors, for all their tireless hours that contributed to the success of the show.
As a result of this team effort and the supportive audience that came to enjoy the show, HCST was able to donate $2,500 to Prepare for Success and $2,000 to the Howard County Police to be used in their community service and youth programs.
Prepare for Success provides school supplies and backpacks to needy Howard County students.
